The New Long Term Care Survey Process

What to Expect: On November 28, 2017 all states began a brand new computer-based survey process for LTC facilities. This new process incorporates new survey procedures, new survey forms, new F-tags, and 41 new and updated investigative protocols (now called “critical element pathways”). This seminar will help SNF staff and administration understand and prepare for the new computer based LTC survey process that is now in effect. The new survey procedures, new survey forms, new F-tags, and new surveyor guidance will be addressed throughout this full day session which focuses on equipping participants to manage the updated process successfully.

Course Description:

At the conclusion of this course, the learner will:

  • Identify significant differences between the old and new survey processes
  • Understand how the new survey process is conducted
  • Understand the Phase 2 provisions for limited enforcement remedies and what this means for facilities, as well as the impact they will have on the 5 Star Rating System
  • Explain key strategies for survey success as the new process gets underway
