Course Description:

This 6-hour live event will address advanced skills required for successful implementation of the Payment Driven Payment Model for Skilled Nursing Facility reimbursement effective October 1, 2019. Emphasis of this session will be on moving beyond the fundamentals of the model to facility applications for successful operations, clinical systems, and best practices for a smooth transition. Interdisciplinary team strategies for managing the payment model change will be taught, and targeted break out sessions for MDS/Nursing, Administrators, and Rehabilitation will be incorporated to advance skill building based on individual staff roles in areas such as the admission process, coding accuracy, supportive documentation, care planning, clinical meetings, recommended policy and procedure updates, triple check, compliance and financial considerations including per diem rate estimation.

  1. Develop skill in implementing systems related to the key components, MDS changes, and critical features that will impact payment under the Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM).
  2. Identify key operational, training and systems considerations for preparing to transition to PDPM
